The brand new Formula 4 Championship is designed to kick-start the careers of up-and-coming young drivers at an affordable price – and Italy is the first country to adopt this exciting new formula.
The Italian Fomula 4 Championship has revealed its calendar along with further details of the brand new series – which visits some of the most iconic circuits that Italy has to offer. For drivers looking to begin their careers in the heartland of world motorsport, Formula 4 in Italy presents an extremely competitive option.
The new single-seater championship will use a Tatuus chassis, with costs confirmed at just 33,000 Euros (plus tax) for the chassis and 9,500 Euros (plus tax) for the engine – which puts out 150 horsepower.
Formula 4 is designed as the first port of call for young drivers after karting, and Italy is leading the way in this new series inaugurated at the specific request of the FIA to make the upper levels of racing more accessible.
As Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the President of the Italian Federation (ACI) points out: “We are delighted to assume the responsibility of being the first in the world to open this new series, designed to discover the latest talents in motorsport. We see it as being an integral part of the ‘road from Karting to Formula One’ initiative, designed to take drivers to the very top level of the sport. The encouragement and support of the FIA, and especially President Todt, has been our key inspiration, confirming the excellent relationship that is in place with ACI in Italy, and the growing international impact that our federation has within world motorsport.”
