Tom Jackson graduates to F4 with Chris Dittmann Racing

Ginetta Junior racer Tom Jackson has confirmed he will graduate to the BRDC F4 Championship in 2014 after concluding a deal with Chris Dittmann Racing.

Jackson, from Maidstone in Kent, finished fifth overall in the 2013 Ginetta Junior Championship with four podium finishes to his name, including a fighting second place in treacherous wet conditions in the final race of the season on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. A proven front-runner, he secured 10 further top-five finishes from the 20 races.

The 17-year-old also competed in Ginetta Juniors in 2012, finishing 10th overall with 11 top-10 finishes during his first season of racing, having competed in selected karting events beforehand.

“I’m delighted to be racing in the BRDC F4 Championship in 2014” Jackson enthused. “I tested with Chris Dittmann Racing at Brands Hatch in November and found I worked really well with the team and feel I adapted really well to the car. Last year showed that drivers can step out of Ginetta Juniors and be competitive straight away and I hope to follow this example to be running at the front. I am aiming for podiums and wins with Chris Dittmann Racing.

“I feel that coming to a relatively new team, we can both help each other on climbing up the championship. I look forward to working with them throughout the season and we should be able to find a great setup for different tracks in wet and dry conditions.”

Chris Dittmann Racing competed with Luke Williams and Dylon Phibbs in the 2013 BRDC F4 Championship, as well as participating in the full Winter Championship with Norwegian Fredrik Johansen. Team Principal Chris Dittmann is delighted to confirm his first driver for the 2014 season and is also in talks with potential drivers for the team’s second seat.

“It’s fantastic to confirm Tom as our first signed driver for 2014” Team Principal Chris Dittmann commented. “We tested with him at Brands Hatch at the end of last year and he adapted very quickly to the car and also formed a great relationship with the team. He demonstrated very good pace and listened to the all the advice we gave him. Even though this will be his first season out of Ginetta Juniors, I’m sure with our support he can continue to develop well and he will be running at the front of the F4 field before too long.”
