Saturday 1 February saw the 2013 AMOC Racing champions crowned at their annual awards dinner at the Spa Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The event enjoyed a bumper turn out, with over 120 guests attending across the different grids.
Looking to this season, the 2014 calendar is all set to kick off at Silverstone National circuit on 5th April before heading off to Oulton Park in May and Donington in June. AMOC Racing events this season will be supported by their regular grids - the popular AMOC Intermarque Championship, “Equipe”GTS, ‘50s Sports cars incorporating the XK Challenge and the Pre-War Team Challenge.
But this season AMOC Racing events will host a brand new grid of ‘Pre-66 GT & Touring cars' aimed at pre-66 Aston Martins, Healeys, E-Types and Mustangs. The coveted prize for this new challenge will be to win the Innes Ireland Cup - a rather magnificent antique silver punch bowl which Innes Ireland’s widow Jean Ireland put the seal of approval on at the awards dinner. Jean commented "Innes would have approved of the trophy being a punch bowl and probably would have used it!” Along with the new The Innes Ireland Cup grid, AMOC Racing events will be joined by a number of guest races; the HRDC will be running their All Stars and Touring Greats and at Doington Park on 7th June AMOC Racing will be running a dedicated race for the 50th Anniversary of the Sunbeam Tiger. MSVR's Atom Cup will also be there, plus a special all-Bentley race covering everything from the 1920s to current models.
Given the success of last year’s centenary event at Brands Hatch, AMOC Racing are confident that the Aston Martin Festival event at the end of June will be the star event of this season’s calendar. Visitors to the Brands Festival will also enjoy the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, GT & Sports Car Cup and the glamorous AMR GT4 Challenge.
