Villorba Corse and HERO join forces for a new GT3 programme

In 2014 the Italian racing team will enter the GT3 world with a Ferrari 458 owned by the British rallying organisation

Villorba Corse “racing with Ferrari” Team has partnered with The Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO) for a brand new GT3 programme. It will be the first time that the Italian squad led by Raimondo Amadio manages a GT3 version of the Ferrari 458 owned by HERO, who organise some of the most famous and challenging European classic rallies, including the 1000 Mile Trial, London to Lisboa and Le Jog. Villorba Corse, who was the International GT Open 2013 champion with Andrea Montermini, is planning to compete in unexplored European championships including the Blancpain series and might confirm its GT Open plans. The partnership will also look at further projects and future collaborations to be build on the excellence represented by HERO and the several activities Villorba carries out in motorsport.

Tomas de Vargas Machuca, Managing Director of HERO, said: “We are very pleased that HERO and Villorba Corse have reached an agreement about the management of the Ferrari 458 GT3”. He added: “Our company bought the car to compete in various championships. Many drivers compete in GT3 series and, at the same time, in events for historic cars. For years HERO has been promoting rallying industry for classic cars among young people because, even if they are usually associated with speed races, many drivers also appreciate other kinds of competition.”
