American Racer Kaminsky Joins Double R For British F3‏

Camren Kaminsky, one of America’s top young single-seater talents, will graduate into the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series this year after today, Friday, 7th February, confirming a 2014 race deal with Double R Racing.Joining Macanese rookie Andy Chang [Chang Wing Chung] at the Woking squad, Kaminsky will be looking to replicate the sort of impact he made in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain last year where he became a race winner during his maiden season on British soil. His arrival at Double R Racing also continues the long-standing relationship between the team and top sports marketing and management agency MB Partners, the consultancy which also represents leading international racer Mike Conway – 2006 British F3 Champion with Double R.“Camren really is a fantastic young prospect and we’re thrilled he’s signed with Double R for the new British F3 season, it’s great to be working with Mark Blundell and MB Partners again too”, said team principal Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt, “The step from Formula Ford to F3 is still big, even though Ford now has slicks and wings, but I’m confident from what I saw of Camren last year he’ll be a very capable, very quick young driver. He certainly has a lot of potential.”The impressive 19-year-old, who is from Scottsdale in Arizona, has only been competing at any level for the past three years. Debuting in karts in the 2011 PKRA 125cc TAG Championship, Kaminsky ended the campaign as Vice-Champion and immediately made the move into single-seaters.Making his car racing bow in the Pacific F2000 Championship, Kaminsky again made his rivals sit up and take notice with a tremendous season – as well as ending the year as Vice-Champion, he also sealed the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title.Crossing the Atlantic to race in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain last year, the first season for the category featuring the EcoBoost 200 car, Kaminsky ended the campaign eighth overall.Finishing runner-up in his maiden race at Brands Hatch, the American went on to take three more podiums including an outright race victory on the penultimate weekend at Silverstone. Since then, he has been gaining extra experience in the MRF Challenge in readiness for his move into Formula 3.“Double R had a very strong season in British F3 last year, we returned to winning ways and took plenty of podiums and we’d like to keep that momentum going this season”, added Hieatt, “Camren will have a huge amount to learn but he’s made a big impact at every level he’s competed so far, so hopefully British F3 won’t be any different!”Kaminsky and Chang will both race Mercedes-powered Dallaras in this year’s Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series, in which Double R plans to field either a three or four car entry alongside a dovetailed campaign for a second season in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
