Record entry list for CNC Heads Sport, Saloon Championship

in 30th anniversary year

The CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Championship is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary in style in 2014, with more than 60 drivers already signed up to contest the popular British Automobile Racing Club-run series.Organised by the North-West Centre of the BARC, the Sports/Saloon Championship prides itself on its winning blend of cost-effective racing and flexible and stable regulations, and takes in 12 rounds at seven meetings, beginning at Oulton Park on 29 March before launching into a series of double-headers at Anglesey, Donington Park, Cadwell Park and Oulton Park once again.Registrations have been coming in thick-and-fast for this milestone season in the championship’s history, with more than 60 confirmed entries to-date – a record at this stage of proceedings. Amongst them are no fewer than six former champions, as well as a significant number of newcomers and racing rookies, spread across the series’ six classes.Eligible cars must have been originally designed for the road, range from lightly to heavily-modified and are separated according to engine size.“We are thrilled to be celebrating three decades of the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Championship in 2014, with what looks like being one of the most exciting seasons in the North-West Centre’s history,” said championship co-ordinator John Leck.“Anybody who has competed in this championship will tell you that it is one of the friendliest and most welcoming places to race, but don’t be fooled, because it is also fiercely-contested in every single class. What’s more, with the added incentives of no registration fee and end-of-season prize money up for grabs, the bumper grids and close, non-contact racing will keep fans entertained right the way through the campaign.”If you are interested in entering the championship or attending one of the race meetings, more details can be found at http://www.barc.net/ or http://www.barcnw.co.uk/.
