Peter Kildemand named Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix wild card‏

Danish star Peter Kildemand admits it’s a “dream come true” to be heading for Copenhagen as the wild card for the Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix at PARKEN on June 28.

The in-form 24-year-old dons the famous No.16 race jacket for the biggest meeting of his life, and he could not be better prepared after a string of big scores and maximums with Polish club Czestochowa, Swedish side Vargarna, British outfit Swindon and Fjelsted in Denmark.

Kildemand has served as a track reserve in Danish speedway’s biggest meeting before and scored two points from three rides last year.

He will fancy his chances of improving on that later this month and can’t wait to join compatriots Nicki Pedersen, Niels-Kristian Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre on the sport’s grandest stage.

He said: “To be in the starting line-up is a dream come true. It’s one of the biggest events in Denmark. I’m really looking forward to that. Last year I was reserve and got a few rides. It was really amazing.

“Getting the wild card was one of my goals this season really. I think I’ve started out pretty well. I’ve been scoring really consistently.

“Of course I’m happy to have this chance. It’s always tough to get it in Denmark with so many good riders. I’ve been the reserve two years in a row now, so I thought it had to be my year. It happened for me, so that’s really good.

“We’ll take each heat step-by-step, but if I have a good day, ride consistently and just score some points, hopefully I’ll be in the semis and we’ll see from there.”

Kildemand is joined at PARKEN by track reserves Mikkel Michelsen and Mikkel Bech Jensen, who don the No.17 and No.18 race jackets respectively.

Michelsen is making great progress in his league racing across Europe with Eastbourne, Smederna, Leszno and Slangerup.

Meanwhile, Esbjerg captain and former Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup winner Bech Jensen is in fine form for Lakeside in the British Elite League and Swedish club Dackarna.
