AMOC Racing St John Horsfall Race Meeting

Milestones and anniversary celebrations are the focus of the AMOC Racing St John Horsfall Race Meeting at Donington Park on Saturday 7 June.

The annual event always holds great stature within Aston Club Racing circles, attracting the club faithful to commemorate the British racing driver who enjoyed great success behind the wheel of Aston Martins either side of the second World War, in which he was an esteemed member of the British Secret Service. A grid of pre-War Aston Martin racers worth several millions of pounds will line up next Saturday to race in his honor.

The Bentley Drivers Club make a guest appearance at Donington to celebrate 90 years since the first Bentley win at Le Mans; with a one-off race featuring nine decades of Bentley Competition cars competing together over twenty minutes. A special race, run by the Sunbeam Owners Club, for any Sunbeam will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Sunbeam Tiger, many examples of which will compete alongside several special edition models.

The regular Aston Club Racing programme will also feature, including the 45 minute Intermarque Championship. Tim Mogridge will try to defy the challenge of the Porsche and Aston Martin representation and extend his championship dominance in his Ferrari 355 following his recent success.

Triumph racers, Brian White, John Andon and Pete Foster will go head to head in the ‘Equipe GTS’ Race for small capacity GT racing cars of the 1950s and 60s which has attracted a strong field of MGs, Austin-Healeys and Triumphs. The final show-down will go to the 1950s Sports Car racers who will be closely matched on Donington’s 1.95 mile National circuit. Paul Woolley’s 1959 Cooper Monaco will be harried by a gaggle of Austin-Healeys and the presence of David Bennett’s iconic Aston Martin DB3S is surely worth the trip to the Midlands alone!

The action gets underway at 9.10am and the first race - the Bentley Drivers Club special event commences at 1.25pm, followed by a programme of eight races including the ‘Atom Cup’ concluding at 7pm. Aston Martin Owners Club members are invited to participate in a track parade during the lunch break. Please see www.amocracing.org for further information.
