Tutumlu debuts new Chevrolet in Portimao GT Open

Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team take part this Friday in round two of the International GT Open, held at the Autódromo do Algarve where they will will debut a new racing car. Tutumlu, who competed in Int´l GT Open´s season-opening driving an Autorlando Sport Porsche 997 GT3 R, switches to the SRT Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 and the outfit is renamed Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani. The driver from Kurdistan will team up with Maxime Soulet, a highly experienced pilot and currently leading the overall classification.

“I´m looking forward to driving the new Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 for the first time. We haven´t tested the car so far, so my debut at the wheel will be on Friday. But I know Portimao well, as I have competed in the Superstars and the International GT Open previously. Barzani Racing Team and I finished on the podium there last year, and it was the very first podium for a Kurdish driver on the on the international scene”, Tutumlu explains. T

he driver recognizes the challenge that this meeting means as “It is not only my inexperience but our handicap for Portugal, as we have twenty seconds for race 1. So our target is to collect as many points as possible in race one and then, in race two, aiming at podium with a time handicapwhich is  less harmful. I know it is a demanding challenge, as I will have to overcome several new things but my motivation is bigger than ever. My teammate Maxime is a perfect travelling companion for achieving wins in Super GT, despite we know the class is really strong. But Selleslagh Racing Team gives me confidence, we even haven Pratt & Miller engineers at the team. It will take some time for adjustment but I want to fly the Kurdish flag on the podium”.

On Friday there are scheduled two private test sessions, and later two free practice sessions taking place at 14.15 and 17.15. Both qualifying sessions will be on Saturday morning with race one at 15.00. Finally the meetings ends on Sunday with race two at 11.00.
