John Bryant-Meisner disappointed with lack of F3 pace at Hungaroring

ADD Motorsports driver John Bryant-Meisner was disappointed to only pick up one point in the fourth round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.

The Swedish racer found the pace wasn’t quite there to replicate the form he was showing earlier in the season or even the eighth place at Pau last month.

But he is hoping to squeeze in a test before the next round at Spa-Francorchamps and come back much stronger.

He said: “I’m more happy to get a point than not to get one, but really a point isn’t a lot and not where we want to be or think we should be.

“We struggled for pace for some reason so it was generally a bad weekend all in all.

“Hopefully we can sort out the problems and get it right and come back much stronger in the next round.”

The car lacked pace in practice and although the team tried to work on this, John found the going tough in qualifying, finishing 18th.

Race One started well, but on the second corner he got pushed out a little and found himself back in 18th again.

Although he came back strongly to finish 14th, a lack of grip during the race prevented him from doing much more.

Qualifying was slightly better for Race 2 and Race 3 where he finished 15th and 14th.

He moved up from 15th to 10th in Race 2 to get a point and in Race 3 he got another great start before being pushed wide and losing position.

Despite staying in 13th place for most of the race, he managed to get back to 12th by the end with the rain helping him get the better of the driver in front of him with four laps to go.

He continued: “The car didn’t feel right for a lot of the weekend, there was a lack of grip and I felt slow into corners.

“Things got a little better as the weekend went on, but I was still struggling.

“It wasn’t a great weekend, but hopefully we can get a test in before the next round and work out what was going wrong.

“Spa should suit me better, we just hope it will suit the car better as well and that we can get back to where we were.”
