Rob Cox keen to get back into BRSCC Fiesta Junior action

at Cadwell Park

17 year-old racing driver Rob Cox, from Flamstead in Hertfordshire, has put his first crash in 22 races behind him to look forward to the fourth round of this year's BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship. Taking place at the Cadwell Park circuit in Lincolnshire, the fourth double-header of the season should give Cox an excellent opportunity to challenge for more success and stretch his lead in the championship by the mid-point of the year.

A rare error led to a costly accident at the previous round in Anglesey. However, the WDE Motorsport team has repaired Rob's Jet Wheel & Tyre-supported Ford Fiesta ST and he is keen to get back in the car and stretch the lead he holds in the series after dropped scores have been taken into account.

The next round, at Cadwell Park, will be an interesting one; Rob enjoyed mixed fortunes yet excellent pace at the same venue last year. In the first of the two races, he qualified on pole but a poor start in the wet meant that eventual champion JJ Ross edged ahead on the first lap. Despite this, Rob and JJ were side by side throughout the race with Ross narrowly taking the win.

In the second race, Rob made an error, with a spin demoting him to the back of the pack. Again, he muscled down to the task at hand and fought his way back to third by the end of the race, a superb effort by the then 16-year old.

This year's race weekend begins on Saturday morning and doesn't feature the usual test day on the Friday. Therefore, this puts the all the drivers on a level playing field for the weekend's events. It does bring one disadvantage however; Rob will only have the 20-minute free practice session on Saturday morning to shake the car down following its rebuild and to check that all settings are to his liking.

However, he has full confidence in the WDE team and knows that the qualifying session on Saturday afternoon is where the real work begins. Like any racing driver, his aim for the weekend is simple; two poles, two wins and two fastest laps.

Commenting, Rob said; "The last race weekend was a bit of a nightmare - my first shunt in 22 races. But unfortunately, that's part of it. But I've put all that behind me now, and learned from it, so I'm looking forward to Cadwell Park this weekend. I need to be back on the pace and if we can be where we were last year, we should have good speed."

"We'll only have the 20-minute free practice session to check the car over but I don't have any real concerns there. I'm also not worried about getting back in the car after the accident - I'm more excited and keen to get back in action.

"Out of this season's six races so far, we've had three good results - wins - and three bad - a third, a mechanical DNF and the accident. The aim this weekend is to add two more good results to that tally and extend our lead as we reach the halfway mark of the season following these two races."

Rob's brand-new website, robcoxracing.com, will also be launched prior to the Cadwell Park weekend. Built by Rob's personal website sponsor, eigotec.com, it will contain background information on the 17 year-old as well as a collection of videos produced by him from his racing career.
