The No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GT America (Type 991) of Kuba Giermaziak and Christina Nielsen drove a hard charge to finish sixth in the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

After settling with a disappointing 15th place qualifying position in the GT Daytona (GTD) class of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship for the six-hour enduro on Sunday, both Giermaziak and Nielsen fought throughout the race, overcame the poor qualifying performance and moved steadily through the 21-car GTD field for their sixth place finish.

Polish native Kuba Giermaziak experienced an on-track incident with two fellow GTD competitors at Turn One that caused a full course caution just after the two-hour mark in the race. The No. 30 avoided significant mechanical damage to the car from this contact and spin, but did receive cosmetic damage to the red-black-and-yellow liveried Porsche. While running in fifth place in the GTD class in the last two hours of the race, one of the Continental tires suffered a puncture on the No. 30 MOMO Porsche that cost the team more than a minute in the pits.

This was the MOMO NGT Motorsports team's first race at Watkins Glen International and with little track knowledge to get a baseline for their No. 30 Porsche, combined with the early struggles, the team has plenty to be proud of for the showing they made at this historic course.

Kuba Giermaziak, qualifying and starting driver of No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:

"This race was one of the toughest I've had even though the car was really awesome. We struggled a little bit in qualifying, a little bit with the car and a little bit with understanding the tire. When the race started, the car felt good because the team worked very hard on Saturday night, and it really paid off. We were able to move up to P5 during the race. We had a little issue during the pit stop, but then Christina got out and she was doing some good lap times. She was very consistent, more consistent even than the top three guys running. I got back into the car and was able to do some good laps, but then we got a tire puncture. It was a bit unlucky for us because it cost us another minute. Without the puncture, we would have been a few places up. The race pace was very good, but at the end we had some issues with the power steering, so I'm not going to complain that we had a brief yellow flag at the end. It would have been tough to get through that with no power steering. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that we were fast and we hope we can keep it up for the next race. We can prove that we're able to be the fastest Porsche and will do that at the next one."

Christina Nielsen, Driver, No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:

"We had a bit of a bad qualifying with some technical issues, so we had to fight for P15 and I knew that our pace should be better than that. Kuba had an amazing first stint in the race and overall. I would say that our pace throughout the entire race was really good. We had a few problems that cost us some time and that's just racing. Even though six hours can seem like a long time, it's not when you're fighting for the front. You are pushing every single lap because losing a couple of seconds is a lot in a six-hour race. I think everyone did an amazing job after having a few technical issues that cost us time with the pit stops, which is the main time we lost. Overall, we did a good job and we had a great race. The best comment of the day was Bryce Miller on the radio saying 'I cannot be beaten by a girl' when he tried to get past me."

Ramez Wahab, NGT Motorsport Owner/No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Team Manager:

"If you were to ask me before the race, I would have told you that it's been one of our worst weekends because everything went pretty much against us. In qualifying, we were 2.2 seconds off the pace. We're usually one of the top three Porsches. You can drive a car on three wheels and you are not 2.2 seconds off the pace, but there were multiple factors that caused our car to be slow in qualifying. At the end, we did not figure out all the factors to be honest, but we did figure out some of them. So, after how the weekend started, it ended up good. I thought we would not finish, but we finished sixth in a very competitive field. That is our best finish this year because we've had a lot of bad luck. We finished sixth and still had issues with the car, but we'll take it."

The next race, Round Six of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, will be the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance held at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, July 11-13, 2014.
