Mosing Earns Second ST Pole Of Season In BMW 328i

 With the championship race tightening in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class, co-drivers Andrew Davis and Robin Liddell are making a push to drive their No. 6 Stevenson Automotive Group Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R to the top of the standings over the second half of the season.

So far, so good.

Davis followed up a victory two weeks ago at Watkins Glen International with the TOTAL Pole Award on Friday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, lapping the 2.459-mile road course in one minute, 27.591 seconds (101.065 mph). The duo of Davis/Liddell is chasing points co-leader Trent Hindman, who qualified second in the No. 46 Trim-Tex/Cirroco Ozzimo/Atlas Acon/DFL Interiors BMW M3.

“Starting up front is very important here,” said Davis, who earned his first Continental Tire Challenge pole. “The key to this race is being up front, because it can be difficult to pass. The Stevenson team gave me a well-balanced car that enabled me to get through the fast and flowing turns. A good car here can go to a bad car very quickly without the right setup.”

Hindman’s lap of 1:27.704 (100.935 mph) was good enough for the outside front row, while Matt Bell qualified third in Stevenson Motorsports’ No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R he co-drives with Andy Lally, 1:27.727 (100.909 mph).

Jeff Mosing Picks Up Second ST Pole Of Season

Jeff Mosing wasted no time setting his fastest lap in Street Tuner (ST) qualifying Friday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Mosing laid down the eventual pole-winning time of 1:32.647 (95.550 mph) in the No. 56 Mosing Motorcars BMW 328i on his opening lap of the 15-minute qualifying session. That lap was just good enough to top the No. 04 BBA Accounting/DE Labs Porsche Cayman of Adam Isman, who fell 0.014 seconds short of his first career Continental Tire Challenge pole.

“I was worried that the car was going to tighten up on sticker tires, but I trusted Ken (Murillo, team owner) on the setup and he did an amazing job,” said Mosing. “I typically get my fastest lap in early, and today the first lap was my fastest. I knew we were going to be fast today, but I was figuring we’d wind up third to fifth.”

Chad Gilsinger qualified third in the No. 93 Honda Racing HPD/Honda of America Honda Civic Si he shares with co-driver Michael Valiante. A total of 15 cars qualified within one second of the class pole.
