Jordan and Pirtek Racing return to BTCC action‏

After a five-week mid-season break, Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing will head east to the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk (2/3 August) to continue their title challenge as rounds 16, 17 and 18 start the second half of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.Snetterton is traditionally the kick-off point for part two of the BTCC season and there is every reason to expect a hot weekend at the East Anglian track, in terms of both weather and on-track action. After a tough weekend at Oulton Park, Andrew and the Pirtek Racing Honda Civic came back strongly at Croft in late June and won the third race of the day to slot into third place in the overall title race behind Colin Turkington (BMW) and Gordon Shedden (Honda). However, Andrew heads to Snetterton with a question mark over where he will start on the grid. At Croft, following an incident with Fabrizio Giovanardi, he was awarded a 10-place grid penalty for the opening Snetterton race. The Pirtek team duly appealed the penalty, believing that in-car data supported Andrew’s view that Giovanardi had slowed unexpectedly. The championship stewards will meet on Friday at Snetterton to review the appeal.“A lot depends on the grid penalty,” said Andrew. “But it doesn’t change our approach to the weekend. We have done some testing during the break and found some improvements, so I’m very happy with that. Now, the championship is all about consistency. We’re only five points off our 2013 score at this point of the season. I’m really looking forward to going racing again. Our car is very good on the tyres, so we’ll be in good shape if the weather stays hot.”After qualifying on Saturday 2 August at 1520, the first of three BTCC races will be at 12.00 on Sunday, with race two at 14.35 and race three at 16.55. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
