Honda has announced details of the competitors, cars and bikes that will take centre stage at CarFest North at Oulton Park this weekend (1-3 August) – with a former World Superbike Champion and the world’s fastest lawn tractor amongst the leading draws. The brainchild of popular Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans, CarFest raises vital funds for BBC Children In Need via a family-oriented blend of fast and exotic cars, celebrity cameos and live music from some of the hottest acts around. One of the undisputed stars of the show will be the 1990 first-generation Honda NSX once owned by Formula One legend Ayrton Senna. This iconic Japanese supercar will be driven on-track by none other than two-time WSBK Champion and erstwhile MotoGP ace James Toseland, whose band Toseland will be playing songs from debut album Renegade on Friday night. The Yorkshireman made his name in motorcycling circles with Honda in World Supersport and British Superbikes, going on to clinch his second WSBK crown with the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team in 2007 at the end of a thrilling campaign.Fellow two-wheeled great Jonathan Rea will also be appearing in Honda colours at CarFest North. The Ulsterman is currently doing battle for the 2014 WSBK laurels, having tallied four triumphs to-date with the Pata Honda World Superbike operation, but this weekend he will climb aboard the HM Plant Fireblade on which Steve Plater won the Senior Isle of Man TT race in 2009.On four wheels, meanwhile, Ben Coles from Team Dynamics – Honda’s partner in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship – will demonstrate the fearsome, 109bhp Mean Mower. Coles built the world’s fastest lawn tractor in just five weeks, and earlier this year it achieved a new world record by setting a top speed of a jaw-dropping 116mph at the Idiada Proving Ground in Spain.Similarly on display on the Honda stand at CarFest North will be the BTCC Civic Tourer replica race car, road-going versions of the CR-V, Civic and Jazz and bikes including the Urban Tiger Fireblade and VFR1200X DCT, as well as an MSX125 – part mini-bike, part motorcycle – that will be just one of the amazing prizes in a charity raffle taking place on the main stage on Sunday evening.Honda will feature right at the heart of the high-octane action at both CarFest North and CarFest South, the latter to be held at ex-Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter’s Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire (22-24 August).Although weekend tickets for CarFest North are now sold-out, there is still availability for Friday attendance.
