10,000 sterling prize package for BRDC F4 Winter Championship

MSV has today (Thursday 7 August) confirmed plans for the second BRDC F4 Winter Championship, comprising eight races across two weekends in November and offering prizes worth £10,000.

The Winter Championship will allow teams to evaluate new drivers, as well as giving existing F4 drivers the chance of additional mileage ahead of next season.

The eight races will run on November 8th and 9th on the Snetterton 300 circuit and November 22nd and 23rd on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. The well-received format of last year’s inaugural Winter Championship remains unchanged, with each of the four days featuring a 20-minute qualifying session and two races of 20 minutes duration.

Participating teams and drivers will also be able to take advantage of two hours of exclusive testing free of charge on the Friday of each event, with additional, semi-exclusive testing available on the Thursday.

Prizes worth £10,000 are up for grabs for the top three finishers in the championship. The overall champion will receive free-of-charge entry to all rounds of the 2015 BRDC F4 Championship, while the runner-up and third-placed driver will receive 50% and 25% off their entry fees respectively.

F4 Series Director Jonathan Palmer commented: “This year’s championship will offer plenty of track time and exceptional value for money. Last year’s Winter Championship was a valuable proving ground for several drivers who experienced F4 machinery for the first time and we expect to see another strong international grid this November.”

Last year’s Winter Champion, Matty Graham, has since graduated to Formula Renault NEC, while winter series race winners Will Palmer and Sennan Fielding are currently third and fifth in the 2014 F4 Main Championship standings.
