Round 6: Zutec Neath Valley Stages, 9 August

Luke Francis got his title challenge back on track with victory on the Zutec Neath Valley Stages and now shares the championship lead with Wug Utting.

Alex Allingham took an early lead but when the cars came into service after three stages, Francis had moved ahead. Allingham and co-driver Chris Williams kept up the pressure all the way to the finish and, although Francis hung on to his lead, his margin of victory was just 12 seconds.

Third place went to Utting, the Impreza driver praising his co-driver Bob Stokoe, who was back in a rally car for the first time in nearly a year. Utting joked afterwards: “He did extraordinarily well keeping me on the not-very-straight and very narrow.”
