Kang Ling to contest ATS Formel 3 Cup for ADM Motorsport

With the second half of the season kicking off shortly, the ATS Formula 3 Cup is pleased to welcome a new driver to the grid. Chinese Kang Ling will contest the series for Renato Melchioretto's outfit, the Italian ADM Motorsport team. The 17-year old talent from Shanghai is switching from the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps to the German Formula 3, aiming for podium finishes in the remaining four races. His team principal is convinced that he is capable of achieving this goal. The second half of the ATS Formula 3 Cup season will kick off at the last weekend of August, with a total of four racing weekends, including the finale at Hockenheim at the first weekend of October, to go.

Kang Ling aims to contest the highest class of Formula racing. He wants to race against the best drivers in the world and prove himself in Formula One. The ATS Formula 3 Cup has been a stepping stone into higher series of Formula racing. Kevin Magnussen, who is contesting a good F1 season for Lotus, is the latest example. In addition, Marvin Kirchhöfer, Richie Stanaway and Jimmy Eriksson have taken the successful next steps in their careers after contesting the ATS Formula 3 Cup. These current and former champions completed the general qualification for motorsports with honours.

On track to Formula OneKang Ling is also taking the next step in his career. The 17-year old Chinese from Shanghai is switching from the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps to the ATS Formula 3 Cup. “I just felt like the Renault is not the right car for me anymore, and I also completed a few test sessions in the German Formula 3,” says Ling. “That felt much better. That's why I decided to contest the remaining races of the ATS Formula 3 Cup season.” He aims to claim a podium finish. His team principal, Renato Melchioretto, is certain that he is capable of doing so. “Kang convinced me right away. He is very focussed in pursuing his goal. We are confident that he will be a great asset for ADM Motorsport.”
