Andrew Jordan and Pirtek Racing are ready to bounce back strongly at Knockhill (23/24 August) as rounds 19, 20 and 21 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship are held at the spectacular Scottish track.The annual trip north of the border comes after a really tough weekend for Andrew and the team at Snetterton. A major accident in free practice sent Andrew to hospital for a check-up after suffering concussion and, although he managed to contest the first two races, he was ruled out of the third race due to the after-effects of the concussion. The Snetterton weekend dealt a massive blow to the titles hopes for Andrew and Pirtek Racing and it will now take a massive turn-around in fortune to get back into the title race, with three race weekends still to come after the Scottish trip.While Andrew took the chance of a few days in the sun, the Pirtek team has been busy getting the Honda Civic back in prime condition after the accident. The car was stripped down on the Monday after Snetterton and was then into the paint shop in less than a week. Both car and driver will be back in top condition for what is always one of the most exciting weekends of the season.“I’m fit and raring to go for Knockhill,” said Andrew. “We’ll have a different approach to the weekend: for the last 18 months the target has always been consistency and championship points, but now I can just go all out for race wins. It will be a case of going as fast as I can and trying to win races. I’m relishing the prospect of being let off the leash!”Andrew says that the points’ situation means that he only has a very outside chance of retaining his BTCC title and he cannot afford to race for consistent finishes. His only chance is to try and win races and see how his rivals get on. Knockhill is notorious for throwing up unpredictable racing, and the Scottish weather can sometimes add to the challenge. Heading for Scotland, Andrew is now fourth in the overall drivers’ standings behind Colin Turkington, Gordon Shedden and Jason Plato. The gap from Turkington to Andrew is 78 points.After qualifying on Saturday 23 August at 15.05, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.45 on Sunday, with race two at 14.15 and race three at 17.05.
