Formula E secures French broadcast rights deal

With a month to go until the first race in Beijing, Formula E has announced a deal for Canal Plus to broadcast the electric motorsport championship in France, Andorra and Monaco.

The agreement is for three seasons and includes live coverage and highlights programmes. The deal was brokered by MP & Silva.

There is a strong French flavour to the championship, which features major support from Renault and four-times Formula One world champion Alain Prost.

Ali Russell, Formula E's director of media, said: “I’m delighted to announce this new broadcast deal with Canal Plus. We want to ensure audiences around the world can watch this exciting new motorsport series and this latest agreement further strengthens our global outreach alongside existing deals with Fox Sports, China’s CCTV, ITV in the UK and Japan’s TV Asahi."

Russell added that Formula E will announce more broadcaster deals before the opening race, on a circuit around Beijing's Olympic Park, on 13th September.
