Markus Pommer scores home AutoGP pole

Markus Pommer (Super Nova) scored his fourth position of the season at the Nürburgring, as he tamed his home racetrack at the end of a wet Auto GP qualifying session at the German venue. Pommer, who logged the pole lap in 1'37"288, led the Q2 session in front of Kevin Giovesi (FMS), who had cruised to top in the opening practice session earlier this morning. The second row will be shared in Race 1 by Tamas Pal Kiss (Virtuosi UK) and Michela Cerruti (Super Nova) as the Italian female racer replicated her best qualifying efforts of the year at Budapest and Monza. Lining-up in row 3, Andrea Roda (Virtuosi UK) will pair Francesco Dracone (Super Nova). The start of the session was delayed to barrier repairs, followed by a rainfall that lasted for the whole qualifying session.

The biggest surprise was the elimination of championship leader Kimiya Sato (Euronova Racing) in Q1. In the first half of the segment, the Japanese suffered from brake issues. With three minutes left He then went off-track in sector 1, bringing out a red flag that cut the action short by two minutes.

The Auto GP action will be back tomorrow with Race 1. The event will be streamed live on the official Auto GP website at 16:45 (and broadcasted tape-delayed on Eurosport at 19:00). Race 2 will be held on Sunday 17th at 16:25 (again live on the Auto GP website and tape-delayed on Eurosport at 17:45). A live timing service will also be available on www.autogp.net
