Riccardo Agostini takes a point from a difficult weekend

THE ITALIAN CONFIRMED AMONG THE QUICKEST DRIVERS AS HE SET THE THIRD FASTEST TIME AND THE BEST SECOND SECTOR IN RACE 2 AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPSThe whole Spa-Francorchamps weekend has been heavily affected by the weather. First the rain, than the wet weather and eventually the sun have made the sixth round of the GP3 Series particularly challenging continuously exceeding or disappointing expectations.

In this condition Riccardo Agostini managed to gain a point thanks to the tenth position obtained in the race of Saturday, and then he set the third fastest time and the Sector 2 record in Race 2.

The Italian Hilmer Motorsport’s driver, was initially penalised by a problem with the height of his car ending up 23rd in the grid. Thanks to the strategic but risky decision to start race 1 with slick tyres when the track was still wet, Agostini managed to gain ground up to the ninth position, but he couldn’t avoid to be overtaken by Emil Bernstorff who, in the late stages of the race, had the advantage of mounting fresh tyres.

In Race 2, after starting off from the fifth row, in the still-wet asphalt Agostini could only keep his position, avoiding to take any risk and eventually finishing 12th. The young Italian’s race has been also affected by a problem with the speed limit which from time to time went on by itself.

The next challenge will be Monza, during the same weekend of the Italian F1 Gran Prix (September 5-7), where Agostini will try once more to maximise the experience accumulated during the season.
