CASA Arena Horsens to host the Kjrgaard Danish FIM Speedway GP

The Kjærgaard Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix has a new home from 2015 after rights holders BSI Speedway agreed a three-year deal with the CASA Arena Horsens.

The 12,500-seater stadium will stage the 2015 Kjærgaard Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix on August 8, as the event moves from Copenhagen’s PARKEN stadium after 12 consecutive years in the capital.

CASA Arena Horsens is no stranger to staging big events with the Rolling Stones, Madonna and Bon Jovi some of the big names to visit. It also hosts matches for Danish football team AC Horsens.

Tickets for the Kjærgaard Danish SGP in Horsens go on sale online from today. Adult seats are available from 450 DKK with children under 15 years 150 DKK and a family ticket – two adults and two under 15s – available for 1,050 DKK.

The stadium have joined forces with Horsens Municipality, CASA and BSI Speedway to bring the event to the Jutland city, located just an hour from legendary SGP venue Vojens and right in Denmark’s speedway heartland.

Horsens will host the only Danish SGP round in 2015 and Peter Sørensen, Mayor of Horsens Municipality, is certain the city can put on a great show, featuring world speedway’s biggest names, including triple world champion Nicki Pedersen and three-time and defending Danish champion Niels-Kristian Iversen.

He said: “In Horsens, we have many years of experience organising major international events - from concerts with the greatest bands in the world to large sports events and the Danes are now used to big things happening in Horsens.

“So top speedway fits perfectly into our branding of Horsens as one of Denmark’s leading music and entertainment cities.

“As usual, we will do our best to transform the city into a huge party both for our current citizens and all the speedway fans from other parts of Denmark and all over the world visiting Horsens.”

Danish speedway great Ole Olsen has hosted many SGP events at the Vojens Speedway Center. But he is happy to hand over the organisation to the city and people of Horsens.

He said: “I am both proud and very happy that we can continue to attract big World Championship events to Denmark. The event is no longer in Vojens where we have had SGP racing for many years, but the world changes and I welcome that very much.

“I’m very pleased the event is still going to be staged in Jutland and even more so at CASA Arena Horsens. Over the last few years, this city has proved they can attract big events and that is what they are known for.

“The co-operation between the different parties in the Municipality is quite unique, and the great support that comes from local citizens and businesses is great to see and experience.

“Well done Horsens. I am sure that the Danish SGP will be a huge success for Horsens and Denmark.”

BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy said: “It is exciting times for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series as we add another new venue and city to the calendar.

“The CASA Arena Horsens is a natural venue for speedway and we are looking forward to bringing the world’s best riders to Jutland over the next three years.

“The city of Horsens has a growing reputation for putting on great international events and we are delighted to add the SGP to this growing list.”
