Seb Morris Eyeing More Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Success In Most

Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC) race winner Seb Morris has his sights set on continuing his new-found momentum at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic this weekend, 30th/31st August, during the penultimate event of the Welshman’s maiden season at European level.Providing another fresh challenge for the 18-year-old Caterham Racing Academy driver, his first visit to Eastern Europe comes after a sensational victory at Assen in The Netherlands earlier this month where he dominated round 11 of the campaign to the tune of almost eight seconds – a huge margin by Formula Renault standards. After a run of misfortune mid-season following his debut NEC win at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit back in May, Seb has worked double-hard with his Fortec Motorsport team behind the scenes to iron out some set-up issues and was back to his best at Assen with a memorable performance.“I’d like to think we have turned a corner, the win at Assen was what we needed, but this is racing so you’re never really sure what can happen”, said Seb, “Formula Renault has been quite inconsistent this season with all of the drivers, there’s not been one driver consistently at the front all year but hopefully I can break that chain and win again at the weekend in the Czech Republic.“Most is a new track for me, I was very quick on the simulator so hopefully we can replicate that in real life when we get there later this week. I’d be satisfied with being on the podium, who wouldn’t, but I do want to win. We need to try and nail pole position in qualifying and then build from there – that would be the perfect scenario.”Ahead of rounds 12, 13 and 14 next weekend at Most, the Jack Wills ‘Young Briton’, TAG Heuer ambassador, Oxford Vaughan ambassador and Elite Cymru-supported sportsman is fifth in the championship standings and within 39 points of the series lead. With a total of 90 points up for grabs to any one driver at the outset of the weekend’s action, the complexion of the title race could alter dramatically over the course of the three Most encounters and Seb is determined to make significant in-roads ahead of the season finale in September.Following two days of testing on Thursday, 28th August, and Friday, 29th August, qualifying will take place on Saturday, 30th August, with round 12 beginning at 14.20 (UK time). On Sunday, 31st August, round 13 is timetabled to start at 08.30 (UK time) with round 14 following at 14.10 (UK time).Provisional 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup Standings (after Rd11):5th Seb Morris, 145pts
