Hertz renews British MotoGP deal on eve of race

Shortly before the race weekend began at Silverstone on Friday, Hertz was confirmed as the title sponsor of the 2014 British MotoGP event.

An agreement was reached between the company and Dorna Sports, the company which organises and operates the MotoGP world championship.

Hertz has sponsored the event since 2010 and signed a two-year extension in 2012, covering that year and 2013.

"With an extremely exciting season ahead, during which we will continue to use Hertz’s worldwide service for both vehicle and equipment rental, the Silverstone round is the ideal event to showcase our strong partnership," said Pau Serracanta, the head of Dorna's commercial activities.

The 2014 British Grand Prix is the last MotoGP race under Silverstone's current contract with Dorna, with the Circuit of Wales having reached a long-term agreement to stage the race from 2015. However, with the Welsh circuit not currently built, Silverstone or Donington Park will step in as the host next year
