After an unexpected safety-car destroyed their race-1, #1 Villorba Corse Ferrari 458 is ready to fight in the final act of the sixth round of the International GT Open to be held on Sunday
Spa (Belgium), September 6, 2014. After a chaotic and very unlucky Saturday's race-1 at Spa, Scuderia Villorba Corse wants to seek revenge in Sunday's race-2, the final act of the sixth round of the 2014 International GT Open, where Andrea Montermini and Niccolò Schirò still are fighting for the title behind the wheel of the Ferrari 458. Because of an unexpected deployment of the safety-car, just a few minutes before their mandatory pit-stop, the former F1 driver from Modena and the young talented driver from Milan could not do better than a sixth place overall and, however, came in second in the Super GT class, clinching some very precious points for the championship anyway.
“We could not do better than this - says Amadio, Team Principal -; because of tire issues we went for a conservative strategy and our race was telling we were right when we recovered up to third position. Unfortunately, the safety car had to be deployed just a few minutes before our mandatory pit-stop. We lost nearly a lap but motorsport is like this: on Sunday there will be another race and we must keep on working hard and believing in what we can achieve.”
Now the Villorba crew will try fight back in the second race of the weekend starting from the fourth row on the grid. The 60-minute race will start at 12:55 and will be broadcasted live on www.gtopen.net
