Auto GP set for 2014 season finale at Estoril‏

The closing round of the 2014 Auto GP championship is ready to kick-off on the Portuguese Estoril racetrack. With the title already in the pockets of Kimiya Sato, most of the attention is dedicated to the fight for the team's title. Super Nova is leading the charts with 295 points thanks to the wins by Markus Pommer and Michela Cerruti, although the female racer won't be on-track due to a back injury. Her place will be taken by Vittorio Ghirelli, lining-up alongside the German and Francesco Dracone, returning after his 2014 appearances at Imola, Monza and Nurburgring.

Their main contenders for them will be Virtuosi Racing, who will rely on their regular driver for the whole season Andrea Roda and on outsiders Sam Dejonghe, Pal Varhaug and Tamas Pal Kiss, with 283 points scored in the previous seven rounds. There is also a theoretical chance for Euronova although the Italian squad will have only one driver, Japanese Shinya Michimi to defend the 268 points scored so far. Fourth place which is now held by FMS, will be the aim of Zele Racing: the Austrian squad will field a new and highly-competitive duo consisting in former Formula 1 driver Antonio Pizzonia and Angolan Luis Sa Silva.

The championship is also open in terms of the second and third place among drivers. Thanks to the 170 points scored so far, Pal Kiss is currently second but he's closely followed by Pommer, Kevin, Giovesi and Roda, respectively with 157, 155 and 153 points.

The weekend's schedule features a single 45-minute practice session on Saturday, October 18th, at 9:55 AM that will be followed at 14:45 by qualifying. The two races will start on Sunday, October 19th at 11:50 AM and 18:15. The races will be televised live on Eurosport (all times local, GMT+1).
