Round 8: Cambrian Rally, 18 October
A dramatic Cambrian Rally saw Alex Allingham roll his Subaru Impreza on the opening stage, only to recover and claim the championship title for the third time in five seasons.
Luke Francis, who led the championship ahead of the event, moved into third place after three stages, while Allingham slipped to 123rd place. However Francis’ hopes of taking the title – and with it a free entry to Wales Rally GB National – ended with a punctured fuel tank on the next stage.
Meanwhile Allingham and co-driver Chris Williams mounted an astonishing fight back that would see them finish in fourth place among the championship contenders and snatch the title from the Welsh Francis' grasp. The top championship driver on the event was Tom Naughton, navigated by fellow Lancastrian Andi Mort.
