Hillspeed drivers Invited To Join Exclusive Winter Test Programme

Leading national motor racing team Hillspeed has confirmed an exclusive 10-day winter test outing in Spain early next month, where the Derbyshire squad will be fielding cars from its BRDC Formula 4 Championship and Ginetta Junior Championship operations.Marking the first part of the team’s upcoming testing schedule, with a return to the Mediterranean early in the New Year already planned, Hillspeed is inviting both new and experienced drivers to join those already taking part in the first visit to Spain in early December.Richard Ollerenshaw’s team is, of course, one of the most successful entrants in BRDC Formula 4 and Ginetta Junior – a multiple championship winner in the latter – and the team principal is keen to hear from youngsters considering either category as an option for 2015.“The opportunity to get some testing time in favourable weather in December and January is very important for potential new drivers to sample the cars, so they and their parents can make well based decisions on their race programmes for 2015”, he said.“For the drivers who are already participating in either championship, testing in the warm and sunny climate which Spain provides allows them to work on areas that aren’t possible in the UK now the winter has started to take hold. In better weather, we’re able to focus on specific points the drivers feel they may need to address following the 2014 season in preparation for next year.”With exclusive use of the circuit and its facilities for the full 10 day duration, existing race car drivers and young karters looking to graduate into cars will be provided with an excellent opportunity to make the most informed choice they can about where their career should take them in 2015.“Having a circuit for our exclusive use over a long period allows us to work on qualifying runs and race distances while honing the ability of a driver and educating them on the specifics which are required to be successful”, added Ollerenshaw, “The exclusive use of the circuit also allows us to provide initial trials in the cars for drivers who have not yet completed their ARDS test and obtained a licence.“This is ideal for karters who are in two-minds about switching to cars or remaining in karts for a further year. Having the opportunity to test a car on a full race circuit with supervised instruction, without making a commitment of obtaining a licence, is the perfect way for the drivers of tomorrow to make the best decision for their careers.”Drivers interested in taking part in Hillspeed’s winter testing programme, or their parents, are invited to contact Hillspeed’s Richard Ollerenshaw on 01433 650400 or 07966 650400 to discuss the options. Alternatively, email info@hillspeed.co.uk for availability and full details.
