Kruger confirmed as 2014 Formula Ford Champion

MSA National Court dismisses appeal that could have cost Jayde Kruger his championship points for winning Round 29

Jayde Kruger’s victory in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain was confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) by UK motorsport’s governing body, the MSA, which has dismissed a rival team’s appeal to its National Court.

The appeal was lodged by Falcon Motorsport following rulings handed down in the aftermath of Round 29 of the championship, at Brands Hatch in October, which Kruger won. On the second lap of the race Jayde and Falcon driver Harrison Scott collided, the incident leading to Scott’s retirement from the race.

Kruger was charged with causing an avoidable collision and received a formal reprimand from the Clerk of the Course, with two penalty points added to his race licence, and forfeited all championship points from that round. Kruger and his team, JTR, appealed to the MSA Stewards of the meeting, who did not uphold the charge, considering the contact to be a racing incident.

It was this decision which Falcon Motorsport and Scott unsuccessfully appealed yesterday. The National Court supported the Stewards’ decision and the appeal was therefore rejected; Falcon Motorsport’s appeal fee was returned. The ruling means that the results of Round 29 are now declared final, and by extension the final championship positions.
