Drivex to debut new Porsche 991 in the 500kms of Alcaniz

The 500 kilometers of Alcañiz, at Motorland Aragón on Saturday, will be very significant for Drivex. The team based in Alcalá de Henares will take part in the Endurance Series season finale with new major additions including a new Porsche and new drivers.

Entering three cars – there are more than forty vehicles on the entry list making this the strongest entry yet - and the Drivex team will debut its new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991) in the D1 class. The German GT will be shared by three well known drivers on the Spanish motor racing scene. Great Britain's William Paul alongside Ferrán and Fernando Monje, the latter duo winning the European Touring Car Championship two years ago.

In D3 the Spanish team will field two Volkswagen Scirocco GT24s, very competitive cars at Motorland Aragón as they finished on the podium last year. Miguel Ángel de Castro and Mauritius' Andrew Waller will drive the first and Jaime Carbó, Michel Lepoutre and Aitor Calvet will share the second Volkswagen, two strong driver line-ups.

Friday will see up to seven hours of testing over the course of the day. On Saturday qualifying will take place at 10.15 and the weekend´s race is due to start at 13.45, coming to an end four hours later.

Miguel Ángel de Castro: “We are excited about this weekend´s 500kms of Alcañiz, because our chances are quite interesting both in D1 and D3 classes. We know how difficult to debut a new car is but we will leverage our many years of experience with Porsche-built cars. It will be helpful for sure. It is expected to rain on Saturday, so it is going to be important to avoid driving mistakes.”
