DREAM TEAM 'REEM' TAKE VICTORY AT 2015 TW STEEL DAYTONA 24 HOUR RACEA record entry of 38 teams battle it out at Daytona Milton KeynesReem Team take second consecutive victory in the UK's toughest hire-kart endurance raceAt 1.00pm 2nd May 2015, 38 teams started the UK’s most prestigious hire kart endurance, the TW Steel Daytona 24 hour race at Daytona Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. This prominent annual event never fails to attract kart racing’s elite – many of the drivers that lined up on the 1,100m International Circuit on Saturday regularly compete in top level karting events nationwide – particularly the TW Steel DMAX Championship as well as those who are currently competing in the Sodi World Series.Changeable weather conditions provided an interesting back-drop to last weekend's race - a mix of dry followed by showers and finally finishing completely in the wet, certainly made things challenging - but impressive driving by all the teams ensured a fantastically close finish after 1101 laps with only 59.883 seconds splitting race victors, Reem Team from second-placed, and three-times 24 hour champions, Red Hot Racing. TW BAAM Team finished in third after an impressive battle with Aldi Sport Team Joest who came in a respectable fourth. After a staggering combined total of 39,424 laps, the chequered flag was flown at 1.00pm on Sunday to Reem Team Racing who took the well-deserved victory. However, special recognition must also go to race entrant and Daytona Motorsport employee, Andy Mitchell who raced singularly to raise valuable funds for London Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support. Andy managed to complete an impressive 806 laps over the 24 hour period - the only driver ever to have driven solo in this race since the event's inception back in 2009.Said Jim Graham, Daytona Motorsport Group Marketing Director, “We are absolutely delighted with the number of entries for the 24 hour race this year as its the most we've had since the event was moved from October to May. The racing and camaraderie amongst the teams this year was second to none. My congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to our title sponsors, TW Steel for their support."
