The Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix will stay in Prague for the next three years after Autoklub Marketa signed a new three-year deal to host the event until 2018.
The Prague showpiece has been part of the SGP calendar every season since 1997 – making the Marketa Stadium the longest-serving venue in the competition’s 21-year history.
Next season’s sees Marketa stage its 20th Czech SGP and Paul Bellamy, managing director of SGP rights holder BSI Speedway, is delighted to extend the series’ ties with the city.
He said: “It has been fantastic to see the Czech SGP grow into such a popular event during the past two decades, and the Marketa Stadium has grown and developed with it into a fantastic speedway venue.
“Having the beautiful and lively city of Prague just minutes away is a huge plus, as fans travel from all over the world to enjoy, not just a great night of racing, but a brilliant all-round weekend break.
“Autoklub Marketa have always been very professional to work with and we look forward to continuing that co-operation in the years to come.”
Autoklub Marketa president Petr Ondrasik said: “The Czech SGP has long been established as a huge highlight of, not just the club’s racing calendar, but also the Czech speedway season.
