AutoGP: Second place for Facu Regalia

After dropping to third at the start, the Argentinean driver managed to overtake another car and cross the finish line second for FMS Racing

Starting from the pole position, Facu Regalia was not able to take another race win in the Auto GP Series at Silverstone, but the youngster born in Buenos Aires still brought home second place, his second podium in three races.

After setting an unbeatable pole position time yesterday, lapping more than one second quicker than Antonio Pizzonia, Regalia was overtaken by two cars at the start today. Both Pizzonia and his teammate Luis Sa Silva passed Regalia but the Argentinean overtook the Angolan cleanly on the outside at T1 on lap 2. Despite he was in Pizzonia´s slipstream at the beginning, Brazil´s driver pulled away as he chose another tire compound, which was much more competitive at the end.

Race 2 starts Sunday at 13.45.

Facu Regalia: “It was a hard race from the very beginning because my start wasn´t that good again. I´m still struggling with car clutch, and my team will make some changes because we need to improve this issue for tomorrow. I am experiencing lack of feeling. This is my main handicap so far. I was passed by two cars, but shortly after I overtook Sa Silva. But then I wasn not able to challenge Pizzonia for win as he started on the medium tire compound and the rest of the field I chose starting on the softer one. After five or six laps grip was gone. Congratulations Antonio, your race and strategy was just perfect. Tomorrow we start 7th on the starting grid, and my goal is to fight for another podium finish. Obviously I want to finish ahead of Antonio, because it will be crucial from now on”.
