Facu Regalia only 48 thousandths away from AutoGP race win

Regalia made a brilliant recovery from 5th on the grid  at Silverstone, taking second place only a few thousandths behind Sa Silva. Although he achieved his goal of reducing Pizzonia´s point gap to eleven, the race also brought a bittersweet result for the Buenos Aires-born driver as he did not claim his second win in the series by a narrow margin

Regalia finished on the rostrum again by finishing second with the Lola B05/52 entered by FMS Racing at Silverstone. Another positive result in th  battle for the title with former Formula 1 driver Antonio Pizzonia. They both are already pulling away at the top.

Facu, 5th on the starting grid, made a lightning start. After two laps, he was running third after passing Andrés Méndez and Nikita Zlobin and, on lap 3, he moved up to second by overtaking Giuseppe Cipriani.

Regalia´s pace was unmatched by any other driver and on lap five, he set the fastest lap time, 1:47.099, and catching the leader, Angola´s Luis Sa Silva. The African race proved to be a tough rival and more than once almost tangled up sending Regalia off track.  Finally the driver of FMS Racing finished second side by side.

Paul Ricard in France will host the next event at the end of June.

Facu Regalia: “Despite my recovery and ending up second, right behind Sa Silva, I´m not that happy. I really think we deserved to win this race. Sa Silva, with three laps to go, almost sent me off track. I managed to catch him again but I couldn’t make a clean overtaking maneuver. We were very confident with with our work previous to the race and with our tire wear management but owing to various problems we didn´t achieve the desired result. Anyway two second places, yesterday´s pole position and our fastest lap today is without doubts a good weekend, and we are a mere 11 points behind Pizzonia. We need to keep battling. As always, thank you to all my fans and friends to support me this weekend”.
