Double podium and lead for Fontes and van Oostrum in Spain

Another brilliant weekend for Alvaro Fontes and Mirco van Oostrum at Jarama for the second round of the Spanish Endurance Championship. The duo from PCR Sport finished second and third on the rostrum with the SEAT León Cup Racer and sit first in the SEAT Trophy and D1 class.

They were facing an important challenge as van Oostrum had never driven at this circuit – perhaps one of the narrowest and twisting racing tracks in the Iberian Peninsula - but coached by Fontes, the Dutchman set a competitive pace from the very start.

Both races took place on Sunday. Van Oostrum had a brilliant opening stint before pitting to hand over to Fontes. After 52 minutes he crossed the finish line 3rd in the SEAT Trophy and 5th in D1 class. In Race 2 Fontes built a 12-second gap in the first part of the race but Marc Carol, SEAT León Supercopa double-champion, overtook van Oostrum at the finish

“It was another long and intense round, but at the same time it was positive as we are sitting at the top in SEAT Trophy and D1 standings. I want to highlight Mirco´s performance in Race 1, because we were able to move up to third. In Race 2 it was a shame I wasn't able to open a bigger gap but second is still a fantastic result. Both podiums strengthen our chances and we already focused on Motorland”, Fontes said.
