Positive F3 Weekend In Monza For Russell

This weekend saw George Russell and has Carlin team head to the Monza Formula 1 circuit for Round Four of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship season.

 Despite struggling to find the perfect set up in qualifying, Russell placed the car in P9 and P14. Russell said;

"At Monza the slip stream was absolutely vital in qualifying and you would find at least 6 tenths in the draft. But unfortunately we didn't quite optimise that and ended up qualifying P9 and P14."

 Race 1 at the royal park of Monza saw a strong performance from George, making up a place to finish 8th.

 Race 2 saw a lightning start from 14th on the grid. Showing great pace throughout George moved up 8 places, finishing in 6th place overall.

 Race 3 was turbulent to say the least, Russell said;

"We made another good start. We were doing a lot of overtaking and moved up to P7 early on. Unfortunately there was an incident creating a red flag half way through and the race didn't restart. That was quite disappointing as I was catching the guys ahead of me and I thought P5 could've been on the cards."

 "All in all we had three very good races, but we just really need to work on our qualifying performance. We haven't quite optimised that yet and it's really hindering our races. But we'll keep pushing and come back fighting for the next round at Spa."

 Round 5 of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship season takes place at Spa-Francorchamps on June 19-21.
