ADAC GT Masters and Blancpain Sprint Series.
Second round of the ADAC GT Masters in Spielberg, AustriaReady to get another podium at Sprint-Series in Zolder, Belgium
Following a six-week break, the second round of the ADAC GT Masters will take place this coming weekend in Austria with the MRS-crew looking ahead to a successful race meeting. At the same time, there is the third round of the Blancpain Sprint Series in Zolder (Belgium). Always on the grid: The Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.
ADAC GT Masters, Spielberg (Austria)
The season opener to the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben has already been six weeks ago, but the exciting weekend has not been forgotten. Following a double victory in the Gentlemen-Class in the first race, the #22 Nissan GT-R also secured a race-win in the second race with the driver-pairing Dominic Jöst and Florian Scholze. A second podium for the sister-car was refused due to a disqualification of the #23 car from Florian Strauß und Marc Gassner.
"We were given a time penalty for the #23 Nissan, because our pitstop was too short“, explained Karsten Molitor, Team Principal MRS. "Since we lost radio contact with Marc (Gassner), there was no way for us to tell him to come into the pits. It all happened very quickly and then we were black-flagged.“
But all eyes and hopes are now focusing on Spielberg. The Red Bull Ring, with its 4.326 km should suit the GT-R. "We were slightly surprised by our pace we showed in Oschersleben, a track that really does not suit the GT-R", said Molitor. "Spielberg on the other side should favour us and we are hoping for some great results."
The races will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 13:15 and are broadcast live on Sport 1.
Blancpain Sprint Series, Zolder (Belgium)
Following a third and sixth place at the last Sprint-Event held at Brands Hatch, the #73 Nissan GT-R by Craig Dolby and Sean Walkinshaw will head to Zolder for the next round. The MRS-Team is eager to fight for another podium finish on the 4-kilometre long track. „We proved at Silverstone for the Endurance race a couple of weeks ago that we can fight for top positions“, said Dolby, who currently shares 11th place in the driver´s standings with his team-mate Walkinshaw.
"Zolder is an interesting circuit, with many fast parts where you need high speed. It should really be the track for our Nissan GT-R."
Although Zolder is not exactly a home race for the two Englishman, there is still an indirect connection to Belgium. Sean Walkinshaws mother is from Belgium and Craig Dolby secured the Belgian Formula Renault 1.6 Titel back in 2006. Reasons enough, to do well here.
The qualification race will take place on Saturday at 14:45, with the main race on Sunday at 15:15.
