Scuderia Villorba Corse celebrates on Silverstone's podium with second place clinched by Alessandro Balzan and Nicola Benucci on their Ferrari 458 in race-1 of the third round of the 2015 International GT Open.

Despite both Balzan, who also was able to clinch first row in the morning qualifying session, and Benucci were making their debut on the demanding English track, Italian pair always raced in top positions avoiding any mistakes and managing, though for a few laps only, also to occupy the first place after their rivals' pit-stop.

Thanks to this second place Villorba Corse clinched an important result which allows the team led by Raimondo Amadio to score points for the standings again. Racing weekend at Silverstone will host the second qualifying session and the race-2 on Sunday at 9:40 and at 12:55 respectively (note: race-2 at 13:55 in the rest of Europe). The race will be broadcasted live on www.gtopen.net (clicking on the Web TV section) and on several TV channels throughout Europe; Motors TV, BT Sport 1 (UK), Fox Sport 2 (Italy), Canal+ (Spain) and Digi Sport 2 (Slovakia and Czech Republic) among others.

Amadio, Team Principal, said: “Today we have reached the best possible result and our 458 is the first Ferrari both in qualifying and in the race. Balzan kept a very good pace which was fast enough to build an important advantage on the cars behind us. Benucci was good and wise in defending his race without taking any unnecessary risks. Another podium is a clear sign of consistency from the whole team and that must be seen in a positive way in a long and tough championship like the International GT Open”.
