Vasily Romanov takes maiden Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS pole

Vasily Romanov took his first pole position in Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS and his first ever pole in single-seater. The ’96 class Russian driver proved to be the fastest in Monza qualify 1 after having proved to be the quickest also in yesterday’s free practice sessions.

The Cram Motorsport driver lapped in 1:49.595, 245 thousands quicker than the other Russian Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport), who managed to keep behind his team-mate Thiago Vivacqua, the last one capable of lapping below the 1’50” margin. Still in second row there will be the Swiss/Italian Matteo Ferrer, with the second Cram Motorsport car.

Positive debut for Ferdinand Habsburg (Fortec Motorsports), who set fifth ahead of the Championship leader Jack Aitken (Koiranen GP).

Eighth overall, behind Stefan Riener - him too racing for Koiranen GP - is James Allen. The Australian racing for Arta Engineering, who turned 19 today, preceded Danylo Pronenko (BVM Racing) and Denis Bulatov (GSK Grand Prix), that are thus part of the top-10.

«I made no mistakes, nor yesterday nor today. I really like the track. Already when I’ve tested here I’ve soon found myself at ease. My fastest lap was perfect. I’m very happy as this is my first ever pole position in single-seater» - commented Romanov.
