British Schools Karting Championship organisers boost prize structure

ahead of 2015 finaleOrganisers of the British Schools Karting Championship have confirmed a boost in its prize structure ahead of the season finale on Saturday, 18th July at Whilton Mill, near Daventry, Northants. The championship, designed as an entry-level initiative for students aged between 13-18 years-old, will see Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) front-runners, Team BMR and WIX Racing, as well as Renaultsport UK’s flagship championship, the Renault UK Clio Cup, donate prizes for the eventual winning school of this year’s competition. Ahead of an all-new inaugural BMR Touring Kart programme in 2016, Team BMR’s BTCC race winner Árón Smith, will attend the final at Whilton Mill to perform demonstration runs in their new state-of-the-art karting machinery, whilst also offering the winning school the opportunity to receive one-to-one coaching in the karts at Rye House later this summer. Fresh from collecting the 2015 BSKC crown, the winners will be whisked off to Silverstone to witness the penultimate round of the BTCC as guests of the British Automobile Racing Club and Renaultsport UK, where WIX Racing will also be on hand to give a valuable insight into how leading teams operate on a race weekend in Britain’s premier saloon car championship. Ginetta Junior ace Ben Green, formerly a BSKC competitor himself, will contribute an award for the student who posts the fastest lap in the finale. Not only will the winner be presented with a trophy, but they will also join Ben at Rockingham to watch him in action on the BTCC support package which will be broadcast live on ITV Sport. BARC General Manager Ian Watson commented: “After a difficult year, the BSKC organisers have worked very hard to pursue a different angle in our prize structure for 2015. It’s important for us to show that motor sport is accessible and a realistic option should budding drivers wish to pursue a career in the UK arena.“We are well prepared for what will be a thrilling final at Whilton Mill and I hope that this announcement will add extra spice to the occasion. We look forward to crowning our 2015 winners.”
