MSA reappoints TOCA as BTCC promoter

The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has announced the reappointment of BARC (TOCA) Limited as the organiser and promoter of the MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) for five years from 2017.

The MSA launched its tender process in January and has now entered into a new championship agreement with the incumbent promoter, BARC (TOCA) Limited, lasting for five years from 1 January 2017, with the opportunity to extend for a further five years from 2022.

Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive, said: “The MSA British Touring Car Championship is one of the premier titles in UK motor sport and we went into considerable detail before making our decision, assessing all aspects of each of the tenders submitted, scrutinising the business plans in particular. As a result of this examination the selection panel decided unanimously that BARC (TOCA) Limited was best placed to ensure the on-going health and success of the BTCC.”

The Selection Panel members were: Rob Jones, MSA Chief Executive; Simon Blunt, MSA General Secretary; Cheryl Lynch, MSA Race, Speed & Kart Executive; and Edwin Glasgow CBE QC, an internationally reputed barrister.
