KCMG displays impressive pace in Super Formula and JF3 outing at Fuji

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) took a significant step forward as Yuichi Nakayama and Struan Moore displayed outstanding prowess, which highlighted both KCMG drivers’ blistering pace at Fuji Speedway over the weekend. The Hong Kong-based outfit sealed another action-packed outing as All-Japan Formula Three Championship’s Rounds 12 and 13 were held as a support race to Super Formula’s third event on one of Japan’s most panoramic motorsport venues.

Yuichi Nakayama’s performance in Super Formula’s third event saw the Japanese driver deliver competitive lap times and rounded off the first warm up session in seventh place. Nakayama’s skill on Fuji’s 4.56km layout shone brightest as he took on the series’ three-stage qualifying session and went on to secure a fourth place grid position after posting a blazing lap of 1’41.240 in Q3. Unfortunately, Nakayama’s race was impeded due to collision at Turn 1 on the opening lap.  After recovering from this incident, the Japanese driver went on to finish the race in fifteenth place.

Meanwhile, Struan Moore enjoyed a positive weekend, after delivering strong results throughout JF3’s sixth event. Saturday’s Qualifying session for JF3’s Rounds 12 and 13 went well for the Jersey-born driver as he steadily picked up pace and secured fourth position on the starting grid for the # Toyota-powered Dallara F312. Round 12 was held in torrential conditions with Moore’s efforts producing a seventh place finish after 15 laps. The championship’s thirteenth round saw Moore’s performance progress with every lap as he challenged for further positions at the front of the field. Underlined by his blistering pace, the British driver rounded off the race in fifth place, clocking the session’s second fastest time of 1:36.481.

Yuichi Nakayama, Super Formula Driver: “Overall it was a good outing and I’m pleased with the progress that we’ve made at Fuji this weekend, especially in Qualifying. It was a shame that we weren’t able to finish with better results as we were at the front of the starting grid. Nonetheless, we’ve shown that the car is competitive and we have the pace to challenge for victory. The team did an amazing job and I’m looking forward now to the next race at Motegi next month”

Struan Moore, All-Japan Formula Three Driver: “We had a successful weekend at Fuji for Round 6 in F3 supporting Super Formula. So chuffed with the results and pace and big thank you to all the fans that I met - it was great to have such support. Special thanks to the Belstaff entourage for coming to see me race this weekend! Ready to crack on with the preparations for the penultimate round at Motegi on the 22nd/23rd of August!”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Head of Motorsport: “Overall, it was a good weekend for the team and we’re happy to come away with these results at Fuji. Super Formula and JF3 have a very competitive grid and I’m pleased that we delivered promising results in both championships. I’d like to commend Yuichi, Struan and the KCMG team for a job well done this weekend and we’re all looking forward to Super Formula and JF3’s next rounds race in August.”
