Latifi crashes into Canamasas on the first lap After overtaking eight cars on the opening lap, everything seems to indicate Canamasas was on his way to finishing in the top-ten. But Canada´s Latifi crashed into Canamasas' Dallara and he was forced to retire.
After several mechanical issues with his Himer Motorsport Dallara on Friday, the Barcelona-born driver was eying for a recovery race today. And his start couldn´t get any better as Canamasas managed to pass eight cars at the first corners. Despite Hungaroring is a tricky track for overtaking others, he moved up to 11th from his 19th on the grid. But, still on the first lap, he was hit by Canadian Nicholas Latifi and his race was over with early retirement.
“My goal was to make a good start and I managed to do it. I moved through the field passing several cars. But then Latifi collided with me and I was forced to retire before finishing my first lap”, Canamasas said, pointing out that “it is never easy to deal with these incidents. We struggled yesterday but today our target was to earn some points. Let´s see tomorrow´s Sprint race. But with no pit stops and starting from the back, it will be even a toughest race but you know, you must have a never-give-up attitude in motorsport”.
