MSA British Drag Racing Championship

Round 4: Santa Pod Raceway, 25-26 July

Rain extinguished Sunday’s eliminations at Santa Pod and only qualifying points were awarded. Robert Joosten’s new Plymouth Barracuda claimed pole position at 6.205 seconds on its UK debut for the event’s low elapsed time, while Andy Robinson’s 234.93mph was the top speed.

Third qualifier Kevin Slyfield was the weekend’s big winner: along with scoring personal-best performance figures, the championship leader reinforced his points advantage with just two races left on the calendar.

The big losers were Robinson and Bobby Wallace, who both sustained severe engine damage. Rick Garrett’s title hopes were doused when his event entry form arrived too late for acceptance.
