Podium for Luke Mossey and Quattro Plant TECcare Kawasaki at Thruxton‏

Luke Mossey and the Quattro Plant TECcare Kawasaki team had a fantastic weekend and he secured his first ever British Superbike podium finish in race two with third, after a strong sixth in race one.  The 22-year-old from Royston showed brilliant form throughout the weekend at round seven of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Thruxton Circuit.

Luke was on fine form throughout the weekend at one of his favourite circuits and was making some sturdy progress during the practice sessions. Luke was feeling confident going into qualifying and sat in first place after the opening qualifying session on Saturday. He worked hard to secure his first ever Superbike front row position in third place on the grid.

Luke held his position into the first corner and was third after lap one, moving through to second on the next lap. The race was red-flagged on lap six and Luke was in fourth when the race was stopped. At the re-start, he really struggled off the start and dropped to seventh after the opening lap. He was then locked in an eight bike battle for a podium position. He fought hard and soon found himself in a battle with current British Champion Shane Byrnebefore eventually finishing in a good sixth place.

Luke was unable to put in a quick time for race two and had to start from 11th place on the grid, and a good start saw him up to ninth after the first lap. John Hopkins crashed in the middle of the track and various riders had to swerve to miss him. Luke managed to work his way through without any trouble and got through to the battle for the podium. Luke made the most of the safety car which was deployed for Hopkins, he got a great jump when the car returned to pit lane and was looking really good. At the end of lap 16 he was in third position and fighting with current British Superbike Champion, Shane 'Shakey' Byrne for second. A fantastic move around the outside on the penultimate lap saw him cross the line in second place for the last lap. The knowledge and experience of Shane shone through when he made a pass on Luke in the final stages of the race. Luke finished the 20-lap race in a brilliant third place, his first British Superbike podium of the year and topping off a great weekend.

Luke Mossey - "I'm pretty speechless about this weekend to be honest. I knew coming here would be good as it is a track that I really enjoy riding but didn't think I'd be going away with my first podium place of the year but it's a great feeling. I can't thank the Quattro Plant Teccare Kawasaki team more for everything they have done for me this weekend and providing me with a great bike and perfect set-up for the first practice session.

The bike felt great and I was able to push hard over the weekend but never felt like I was pushing beyond my limit. I was happy qualifying on the front row during qualifying and got a good start but after the red flag I struggled to make any passes and was happy with sixth. The second race was great but we were locked in a battle and I was dicing for eighth and ninth place. After Hopkins' crash bikes were swerving everywhere to miss him as he was in the track and I managed to get through this and make some passes before the safety car was sent out. When the car returned to pit lane I made sure I made the most of it and try to bridge a small gap. I was in a battle with Shakey for second and we made some good passes on each other. I'm totally over the moon to take my first podium of the season and want to thank all my sponsors especially TECcare and the entire Quattro Plant Kawasaki team."
