In an up-and-down season that has seen Park Place Motorsports go through everything from race-ending incidents to their first-ever victory, Park Place Motorsports drivers’ Patrick Lindsey and Spencer Pumpelly will head to this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at the scenic Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, with a firm aim at additional victories and podium visits.
“Road America is always a great track to visit, and it’s one we think could suit us very well,” stated Park Place Motorsports principal and co-driver Patrick Lindsey. “While Road America is a very different circuit from a place like Laguna Seca, we’re hoping the pace we showed there will translate. We feel as though we’ve consistently been the strongest Porsche out there, we just need to have a little change of fortune and we should be there at the end.”
In many ways, the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship GTD season has been a break-out year for the No. 73 Park Place Porsche 911 GT America. Routinely showing as the fastest Porsche on track, the team took a dominant flag-to-flag victory at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, demonstrating not only the talents of both drivers but showing the remarkable pace that the entire team has been able to provide.
With Road America’s combination of medium-speed corners and long straights over the four-mile circuit potentially playing well for Porsche teams, the speed that Park Place has shown on this type of layout has routinely proved fastest. Knowing their potential, the team is coming into the weekend in search of their second victory.
“We’re really hoping it will be a strong track for us,” stated co-driver Spencer Pumpelly. “John Horton (engineer) and all the guys do an amazing job every weekend, and we come to nearly every venue knowing we have the fastest Porsche out there. We definitely feel this could be our weekend but obviously there’s a lot of things that can go wrong so we just need to keep our heads down and stick to our program.”
Practice for Sunday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase begins this Friday, August 7, with the race being broadcast live on Sunday, August 9 at 3:00 PM ET via FOX Sports 1.
