A solid day for Honda Racing’s duo Dan Linfoot and Jenny Tinmouth at the team’s home circuit at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire, for the eighth round of the MCE British Superbike championship.
Linfoot took two tenth place finishes on his Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in both 18-lap races, after a mixed start to his weekend in practice and qualifying sessions.
Linfoot’s finishes have pushed him a step further towards a place in the Showdown, where he’s now sitting seventh in the overall standings – just 21 points outside the top-six.
Meanwhile team-mate Tinmouth had two positive races aboard her CBR machine finishing 22nd and 20th. During race two the Honda rider pushed hard to improve on lap times and set her personal best time at the 3.508km circuit and was quicker on each lap than in race one.
The Louth-based team will now prepare all three CBR machines ahead of the next round at Oulton Park (4-6 September) where the squad will be joined by Honda Endurance Racing’s Julien Da Costa, who will stand in for injured Jason O’Halloran.
"I am a little disappointed with the results today, two tenth places finishes isn’t what we came here for. If I’m honest, I’m a bit baffled with the results and need to look through the data from both races to see where I was losing time and wasn’t able to be quicker. But it’s not all doom and gloom as we did manage to get some good points pushing closer to a spot in the Showdown, so hopefully I can do enough at the next round to sneak in. Oulton Park is a circuit I enjoy and I got a podium there last year. It will be my first time riding the Fireblade there as I missed the earlier round due to injury – so am looking forward to getting there and seeing what we can do and hopefully deliver the results I know we’re capable of."Dan Linfoot
"It’s been a really good weekend here for me. I’m chuffed to bits with all the hard work we’ve all put in and now that’s starting to pay off. I smashed my personal best lap times here and improved in race two with faster times than in race one. I’m looking forward to my home round in a few weeks at Oulton Park and hope to improve more."Jenny Tinmouth
"It’s been a mixed weekend for us here at Cadwell; we had a few issues at the start but managed to finish with some solid results for both Dan and Jenny. For Dan it’s disappointing not to have been further up the placing’s, as we know what he’s capable of, but the two top-ten finishes have boosted his points and pushed him closer to a possible place in the Showdown. We have some things to work on now for Oulton Park to make sure we can close that gap and secure a spot.
"Jenny’s had a fantastic weekend at a circuit she has historically struggled with and it’s great to see all the hard work both the team and Jenny have put in starting to take effect. The aim for the weekend was to finish both races, which she did in 22nd and 20th places, but she also improved her lap times, especially in the second race with each lap faster than the previous. It’s all going in the right direction with Jenny and we’re looking forward to the next round and seeing more progress there."Havier Beltran - Honda Racing team manager
