• MRS with upswing following two podium finishes • Sachsenring to host “League of Dream-Supercars”
MRS Racing showed its upwards trend with two podiums at the Nürburgring. For the 11th and 12th round of the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring, the Lonsee-based team is aiming to build upon this success with its two Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.
The 3.6 km-long track, which is located just outside Hohenstein-Ernstthal, looks back at an old tradition. The circuit is a constant fixture in the racing calendar, not only due to the legendary MotoGP races. With ascents of 10% and slopes of almost 13%, this circuit resembles some of the greatest tracks, such as Spa-Francorchamps.
The Sachsenring is also one of the most challenging race tracks for the Nissan drivers all year, but with its three long straights and flowing corner combinations, the Nissan GT-R will show its full potential. With only six remaining races, the hunt for the Gentlemen trophy is also getting more and more excited. Dominic Jöst and Florian Scholze are currently 23 points behind the leader, the Swiss Remo Lips.
“The Sachsenring is almost like a home race for me, because my second home town is Leipzig”, says Florian Scholze, who drives the #22 Nissan with Dominic Jöst. “We had a string of bad luck at the Nürburgring and we would have liked to join our sister car up there on the podium. But we are now optimistic about the weekend ahead and will give our best. The Sachsenring is a guarantor for thrilling races.”
For the first time this year, there will be a new timetable in place. There will be two free Practice on Friday, starting at 1:45pm with the first one. Saturday and Sunday will see an early start on both days with qualifying at 08:00 am for the relevant race the same day, starting at 1:15pm.
“We really like the new schedule and feel it is great for guests and spectators, because they get much more race action on track”, says Karsten Molitor, Team Principal Molitor Racing Systems. “The Sachsenring should be a good ground for us and it is a track that really suits “Godzilla”. We proofed at Nürburgring that we have sorted out all technical issues and there shouldn´t be anything stopping us from a good result. Of course, there can always be something unpredictable, but we have a great team spirit and approach our tasks positively.”
