Christodoulou Wins at the 'Ring VLN7

Adam Christodoulou has won the toughest round of the Nürburgring championship, the six-hour long VLN7, with Black Falcon and its Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, while also racing the same event in a Porsche Cup car, finishing fourth in class. The 26-year old Brit raced the 6.3-litre Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 alongside Hubert Haupt (DE), Abdulaziz Al Faisal (SA) and Yelmer Buurman (NL), the same line-up he raced with in Nürburgring 24 Hours back in 2014 and again in May, when he impressed by qualifying in second place. In this weekend’s race, qualifying was more difficult, as mixed conditions on the Nordschliefe threw up some interesting challenges. After qualifying in eighth, Christodoulou knew they had a lot of work to do. So, when he started the race, he wasted no time in making up places and, by turn four, he was up to second overall. After two laps, he was forced to pit for tyres, changing his wets for slicks as the track dried out. Exiting behind the lead SLS, he started to hunt it down and the two become embroiled in a battle that saw them exchange places several times. Once he had successfully taken the lead Christodoulou handed over to his team-mates to bring it home. Rather than sitting back and watching on, it was time for Christodoulou to join his other team-mates Nico Verdonck (BE), Joerg Viebahn (DE) and Peter Terting (DE) in the ProSport Performance Porsche Cup car. Taking over the wheel in third place, he completed an hour-long stint before handing to Terting who just got pipped to the podium.“Wow, what an unbelievable weekend”, he commented. “I really had my work cut out racing in two different cars with two different teams, but I'm still buzzing! Both of my stints were really exciting, with the change of conditions at the start and the huge battle for the lead.“I’m just over the moon to have won the six-hour race here, both my teams did a great job and all the drivers were fantastic, I can't thank everyone enough. Congratulations to all involved.”Christodoulou next races in the final round of British GT Championship at Donington in the ProSports Porsche Cayman GT4 next weekend (12 September).
